Wegovy pill price: what each dose costs in 2026

We may earn a commission from some links on this page. How we make money.

Short answer: Paying cash through NovoCare Pharmacy, the Wegovy pill costs $149 a month for the 1.5 mg starting dose, $199 for 4 mg, and $299 for 9 mg and the 25 mg maintenance dose. If your commercial insurance covers it, Novo Nordisk's savings card can bring it down to as little as $25 a month. Eligible people with Medicare drug coverage pay $50 a month through the Medicare GLP-1 Bridge.

Self-pay price by dose

DoseWhen (per the label)Cash price / month
1.5 mg (starting)Days 1–30$149
4 mgDays 31–60$199
9 mgDays 61–90$299
25 mg (maintenance)Day 91 onward$299

One month is a bottle of 30 tablets. Prices from NovoCare, reviewed Oct 20, 2026. Novo Nordisk hasn't published an end date for these pill prices but can change them at any time. The list price is $1,349.02 a month. Self-pay purchases don't count toward your insurance deductible or out-of-pocket maximum.

What the first year costs

If you step up each month on the label's schedule and pay cash, medication for the first 12 months comes to about $3,338: $149 + $199 + $299 for months 1–3, then $299 × 9 for months 4–12. Your clinician may keep you at a lower dose longer, which would cost less.

A telehealth program adds its own fee. For example, Ro's membership is $39 for the first month and then $74 to $149 a month depending on the plan.

With commercial insurance: the $25 savings card

  • If your plan covers the Wegovy pill, you may pay as little as $25 for a one-month prescription, with savings capped at $100 per month (up to $300 for a 3-month fill).
  • Not eligible: anyone with drug coverage through Medicare, Medicaid, the VA, DOD, TRICARE or another federal or state program. Marketplace (ACA exchange) plans and FEHB plans are not treated as government programs for this card.
  • Coverage for weight loss varies by plan, and Novo Nordisk says most plans require a prior authorization from your prescriber. See our insurance guide.
  • To get the card: text SAVE to 83757 or use the form on NovoCare.

With Medicare: $50 a month if you qualify

From July 1, 2026 through Dec 31, 2027, the Medicare GLP-1 Bridge covers the Wegovy tablet and injection, Foundayo and Zepbound KwikPen for a $50 copay per one-month supply. You need Medicare drug coverage and must meet BMI and health criteria; people with type 2 diabetes, moderate-to-severe sleep apnea or fatty liver disease aren't eligible for the Bridge. Where to buy it

  • Using insurance: fill your prescription at your local pharmacy.
  • Paying cash: get the self-pay prices delivered by NovoCare Pharmacy, or use the self-pay offer for pickup at a local pharmacy.
  • Telehealth: NovoCare lists Ro, LifeMD and WeightWatchers among telehealth providers. Ro lists the same $149 to $299 pill prices plus its membership, and LifeMD lists the pill from $149 plus its program fee. WeightWatchers offers the pill through WW Med+ from $149 a month (offer ends 12/31/26), plus the Med+ membership. Compare them on our where-to-get page.
  • TrumpRx.gov also lists the Wegovy pill at $149 a month for the starting dose. TrumpRx is a price-comparison site: Medicare.gov notes you can't buy drugs directly from it, and that discount cards like it aren't considered creditable drug coverage.

Pill vs. shot: price

For new patients, NovoCare prices the Wegovy injection at $199 a month for the first two fills of 0.25 mg and 0.5 mg (offer through Dec 31, 2026), then $349 a month, or $399 for the Wegovy HD 7.2 mg dose. So for a new cash patient the pill costs less than or the same as the shot each month: $149 vs $199 in month 1, $199 vs $199 in month 2, then $299 vs $349. A pill bottle is 30 days; a pen box is 28.
